In the main event of the evening at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville, Australia, 25-year-old Tim Tszyu (16-0, 12 KOs) forced the former welterweight champion 32-year-old Jeff Horn (20-3-1, 13 KOs) to retire when the latter did not come out for the ninth round.
The fight was a rather dirty affair with an abundance of clinches and holding, which was mainly initiated by Horn.
In round 3, Horn was knocked down, but the fall was more likely from a push at the moment when Jeff was unbalanced.
In the 6th round, Horn missed a blow to the body and a couple of right hooks to the head, after which he was forced to kneel down and take a short pause.
In the 8th round, the fight became rather one-sided, and during the break, Horn's corner, after an emotional discussion, decided to abandon the continuation.
As a result of the fight, Tszyu defended his junior middleweight IBF Australia-Asia and WBO Global titles. Tszyu is currently represented in the world rankings IBF #6, WBO #9 and WBC #12.
After the fight, Tszyu Jr. asked not to compare him with his legendary father, but to consider him a full-fledged combat unit "Tim Tszyu".
