In early June, the lawyers of Dillian Whyte (27-1, 18 KOs) sent an official letter to the WBC asking them to provide guarantees that the date of the bout of the Briton for the world heavyweight title clash would not change. Whyte wants to cross gloves with Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder who will fight for the WBC title at the end of the year.
Initially, Mauricio Sulaiman claimed that he would not comment on this issue publicly. Now the WBC president has said that the documents submitted by Whyte's lawyers are not a problem for the World Boxing Council.
“Whyte has accused us of some issues, and our legal department is developing an answer for him. But we do not break any rules. We lost four months because of the coronavirus pandemic, and this is definitely not our fault. It will be some time before we can again organize battles and sanction them as it was,” Sulaiman said.
Whyte is looking forward to challenging the WBC title no later than February 2021. The Briton has owned a temporary champion belt since last July.
