Boxing evening in Dominican Republic is canceled

Boxing's Saturday night, due to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was canceled by the local government, which extended the ban on sporting events across the country until June 3 at least. This was due to the local epidemic situation.

Two weeks ago, when the tournament was announced, 8,400 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the Dominican Republic. At present, there are twice as many of them, and the epidemic is at the stage of growth.

The event in Santo Domingo was supposed to be the first tournament organized under the new WBA security protocol. On Saturday, two battles for the WBA regional belts could take place.
