Robin Zamora (16-7, 8 KOs) defeated Ramiro Blanco (18-8-3, 10 KOs) by unanimous decision in the main event of the evening, organized in Nicaragua. It was the first professional boxing tournament of the month and the first after the coronavirus pandemic was officially announced.
Zamora and Blanco crossed their gloves for the first time in October last year. Zamora knocked out his opponent in the second round. In the rematch the boxers went the full distance, but the 22-year-old Zamora won again. After the final bell the judges scored it 78-74 and 77-75 twice.
The whole evening of boxing was held with all necessary precautions. All participants of the event were in masks. Fighters and their trainers should also wear masks, warming up in the wardrobe. Masks were removed only when opponents entered the ring.
Television commentators and the film crew also wore face masks. A small number of spectators watched fights live to avoid the gathering of large groups at the ring. Each spectator at the entrance disinfected his hands, passed a temperature measurement and put on mandatory face protection.
To date, only 12 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Nicaragua. 3 people died due to COVID-19.
