2012 Olympic bronze medalist Taras Shelestyuk (18-0, 10 KOs) successfully returned to the ring, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Luis Alberto Veron (18-2-2, 9 KOs) of Argentina in one of the main events of the evening in Shreveport, Louisiana. After ten rounds all the judges gave the victory to the Ukrainian southpaw: 97-93 twice and 98-92. The bout took place on Showtime as part of "ShoBox: The New Generation."

In the fifth round after an unintentional clash of heads Shelestyuk got cut on his forehead, but it did not prevent him from bringing a confident victory in a rather one-sided fight.

Despite a successful amateur career Shelestyuk's career as a pro goes not so well. Previous time Taras fought last March. In 2018 he did not fight at all, and in 2017 he had only one fight.
