At the moment, negotiations are under way between the camp of Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21 KOs) and representatives of the WBO and IBF. Eddie Hearn, the promoter of the Englishman, has a new plan that is associated with the championship belts in the heavyweights.
30-year-old Joshua returns to the ring in May in the fight against Kubrat Pulev. The bout will be the mandatory title defense of the International Boxing Federation. This may mean that the British would soon leave World Boxing Organization belt vacant.
According to unofficial information, Joshua could agree to such a solution under one condition. The winner of his fight with Pulev should become the eliminator for the WBO belt and the winner will get a chance to return it no later than one year.
Hearn would also like to see Oleksandr Usyk and Derek Chisora fighting for the vacant WBO title in this situation. This fight would be held in March in England. However, there is a possibility that the Ukrainian will meet Joseph Parker for the vacant belt, as both fighters took two of the highest spots in WBO heavyweight rankings.
