Stevenson makes an easy work of Guevara

Andrew Karlov July 13, 2019, 11:36 p.m.

Shakur Stevenson (12-0, 7 KOs), storming the tops of welterweight divisions, knocked out in the third round Alberto Guevara (27-5, 6 KOs) in the main event of the evening in his hometown of Newark. The WBO NABO belt  was at stake in this duel.

Guevara took the fight to Stevenson, but was unable to make it at least equal. Guevara was clearly inferior to the younger and much faster opponent. Stevenson dominated the bout, and put an end with several successful unanswered combinations.

At the same evening Joshua Greer, Jr. scored a majority decision win over Nikolai Potapov. After the final bell the judges counted it 116-112 and 115-113 for the American, and 114-114.
