WBA bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (40-5, 26 KOs) stopped in the sixth round Stephon Young (18-2-3, 7 KOs) with a bright knockout in the semifinal of the World Boxing Super Series in one of the main events of the evening in Lafayette, Louisiana.

36-year-old Donaire dominated for five rounds, and then sent Young to the floor with a left hook to the head. The time was 2:37.

Initially, Donaire was to meet the IBF champion Zolani Tete, who refused to fight on the week of the fight, citing a shoulder injury.
