Bivol: The American audience does not really want to see the fight of two Russian champions

WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol said that the difficulties in organizing a unification battle were connected with the preferences of the American public. According to Bivol, American audience wants to see more fights of local boxers on TV than the Russian ones.

At the moment, three world light heavyweight champion belts belong to Russian boxers. Apart from Dmitry Bivol, the WBO belt is owned by Sergey Kovalev, and the IBF belt belongs to Arthur Beterbiev.

“The problem is that the American viewer wants to see more fights. That is, they do not really want to see fights of two Russian champions. Nevertheless, the unifying battles should be of interest to the American audience. There is such a difficult situation. The problem is that, perhaps, ESPN is not interested in organizing such a fight. If HBO in the past was interested in such a duel, then there is no such thing that anyone would offer strongly,” Bivol said.
