Eubank Jr. beats up, decisions DeGale

In the main event of the evening at the O2 Arena in London, Chris Eubank Jr. (27-2, 21 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over former world champion James DeGale (25-2-1, 15 KOs). The scores were 114-112, 115-112, and 117-109. The last score is more adequate than the first two. Eubank Jr. also won the vacant IBO super middleweight title.

In the course of the battle, DeGale missed heavy blows several times, was noticeably hurt, but he held on, clinched, and was able to stand up till the final bell.

In the second round, DeGale was knocked down when, after a chaotic exchange of blows, he was hurt and fell into the ropes. Once again DeGale was counted at the end of the tenth round, when, missing left hook to the jaw, Eubank pressed him to the ropes and forced to bend down and touch the floor with the gloves.

In the eleventh round, Eubank threw DeGale on the floor with a wrestling move and was deducted with one point.
