Leo Santa Cruz (36-1-1, 19 KOs) scored a unanimous decision win over Rafael Rivera (26-3-2, 17 KOs) in the main event of the evening in Los Angeles and defended his WBA featherweight title. After twelve rounds, all three judges counted it 119-109.
The 30-year-old Santa Cruz has traditionally imposed a high pace, delivered many punches and won rounds by his activity. The Mexican landed twice as much as his opponent and scored his first win since June last year.
At the same evening, former lightweight champion Omar Figueroa (28-0-1, 19 KOs) beat on points John Molina (30-8, 24 KOs). The judges scored it 99-91, 98-92 and 97-93 in favor of Figueroa.
