Aloyan is the bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, two-time world champion, European champion in 52 kg. At the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he won a silver medal, but the Court of Sports Arbitration (CAS) on December 8 last year, deprived the boxer of the award for doping. In his test, taken during the competitive period on August 21, a thaminoheptane was detected in Aloyan’s samples.

On December 30, the athlete filed an appeal, which was considered on May 9. This June it was announced that the appeal was rejected.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) had previously announced that it had frozen plans for a boxing tournament at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics until the completion of the investigation in International Boxing Association (AIBA).
