At the Bellator 212 tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii, former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir suffered an early defeat in a battle against Javy Ayala.
In the first round, Mir had an advantage due to two takedowns and successful work on the ground. In the second part Frank began to experience serious problems because of the cuts, which Ayala made full use of, successfully working in the clinch at the net and attacking with heavy blows. Toward the close of the round, the bloodied Mir was forced to tap as a sign of surrender.
