Margarito beats Canelo’s brother by split decision

“I want big fights, Cotto, Canelo, and not a rematch with Ramon,” declared former world champion Antonio Margarito after his ten round split decision win over Ramon “Inocente” Alvarez on Saturday night in Rosarito Beach, Mexico. “I am ready for big fights. Now I want to beat his brother Saul!” Ramon Alvarez, however, didn’t agree with the decision.

“I thought that the decision was for me. I want a rematch. Margarito didn’t win. The knockdown was more of a slip than anything,” stated the older brother of Canelo.
