In the US at the UFC Fight Night 135 one of the fighters kicked his opponent to the head as if it was a soccer ball. MMA fighter Erik Anders knocked out Tim Williams with a "football kick" to the head. While Williams tried to rise up from the floor, Anders inflicted a crushing kick to the opponent's head.
It is interesting that Anders began his sports career as a player in American football. He was performing for the University of Alabama, and after graduation he signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns.
