Former UFC champion Cody Garbrandt said that in his teens he tried to commit suicide. The 27-year-old sportsman admitted that his elder brother Zak saved him from death.
"Then I was a teenager, it was my senior year in high school, I struggled all my life and after the injury I lost my passion for sports, and with it the incentive to exist. And I contacted a bad company, started hanging out and using a lot of drugs, I did not think about anything, it almost consumed my life, I felt that my path was coming to an end," Garbrandt said.
"I was depressed, my mind was plunged into real darkness, one day I almost hanged myself, my brother came home in time and saved my life. He burst in, hugged me, sat next to me, we cried together and he convinces me that, that everything will be fine. After that, I changed, my life changed too, that moment was the beginning of my faith in God," Garbrandt admitted.
