UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway will not be able to fight against Brian Ortega at the UFC 226 tournament. According to the fighter's management, he was hospitalized because of signs of concussion.

"Max's team and UFC employees noticed that something abnormal has happened to him since the end of last week. For many, it became apparent during his interviews and public appearances over the past few days.

“He had symptoms of concussion before the weigh-in and he was sent to a hospital where they had the MRT. The initial results looked normal and he was discharged on Tuesday afternoon, but the symptoms continued.

“Max quarreled with his team and did not want to withdraw from the fight. The next day, there were some improvements, but he still showed obvious symptoms. After an open workout, he went to bed, it was very difficult to wake him up. When Max woke up, his speech was unintelligible and he saw flashes in his eyes. Now he has returned to the hospital for further examination," the fighter's team said in a statement.
