Saucedo stops Zappavigna in a bloody war (video)

In the bloody battle undefeated WBO #1 and WBA #2 super lightweight Alex "El Cholo" Saucedo (28-0, 18 KOs) stopped WBO #7 Lenny Zappavigna (37-4, 27 KOs) in the seventh round of their sensational battle in Oklahoma City. Both fighters received serious cuts during the battle.

Saucedo was able to drop Zappavigna in the third round, but Lenny was able to respond with dignity and in the fourth round brought down a series of blows on the opponent. Saucedo was able to regain control in the fifth. By the end of the sixth Zappavigna’s left eye was completely closed, and his face turned into a blood mask. The corner of Lenny finally threw the towel in at 2:31 of the seventh round.

Saucedo is now a mandatory challenger for the WBO super lightweight title, which belongs to Maurice Hooker.
