Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier will have a rematch at the UFC on FOX 30 tournament, scheduled for July 28 in Calgary, Canada.
The first fight between Alvarez and Poirier took place last May and it was stopped in the second round after Eddie inflicted several crushing knee blows on Dustin's head. The last blow was forbidden, since the arms and legs of Poirier were on the floor. Referee Herb Dean considered these attacks unintentional, and when the doctors did not allow Poirier to continue, the fight was declared no contest.
After this meeting, Poirier fought twice, having got KO victories over Anthony Pettis and Justin Gatji.
Alvarez had only one fight, also knocking Gatji out.
