In the main event of the evening in Kampton Park, South Africa, the IBO heavyweight champion Kevin Lerena (20-1, 9 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Dmitry Kucher (24-3, 18 KOs) and successfully defended his title. The scores were: twice 119-109 and 117-111.

The duel went on in an average pace, Kucher was walking forward, but his punches lacked precision and strength. Lerena worked on explosions and counter attacks, in the second round he visible hurt the Ukrainian with his left hand, and as a whole Lerena landed more accurate and seemingly more powerful punches. In the initial rounds, Lerena had a bleeding from his nose and a swelling over the right eye, but it seems didn't bother him much.

After the fight, Peter Smith, the coach of Lerena, said that his fighter deserved the title of world champion.
