Truax takes title from DeGale

Andrew Karlov Dec. 9, 2017, 6:52 p.m.

American Caleb Truax (23-2-1, 14 KOs) quite unexpectedly won a majority decision over James DeGale (29-3-2, 18 KOs) and took away his IBF super middleweight title in the main event of the vening at the Copper Box Arena in London. The scores were: 114-114, 115-112, 116-112.

Truex worked as a first number and constantly went forward. In the fifth round DeGale was on the verge of KO defeat, but managed to stay on his feet and survived to the end of the round. DeGale spent too much time running away from Truex and missing heavy blows while being at the ropes.

Before the fight DeGale was considered an undisputed favorite, and the bets on him were taken at a rate of 41 to 1.

After the fight DeGale admitted that he hurried to early after a shoulder surgery and said that he would like to have a rematch with Truax.
