Badou Jack vacated his WBA light heavyweight title, and the purse bid for the fight with Dmitry Bivol, scheduled for September 25, will not take place, according to the official WBA website. As noted in the message, Jack sent a letter to WBA, in which he expressed a desire to release his title.
"Jack thanked WBA for giving him the opportunity to stage a title fight with Natan Cleverly on August 26, which he won by TKO in the fifth round. Bids for the fight with Bivol, scheduled for September 25, will not take place," the report said.
In late July WBA ordered Bivol to fight against Cleverly but in August Cleverly, at that time the WBA champion, received permission to fight against Jack, if the winner of the fight in the future will fight with the Russian.
