%foto2%Vadim Kornilov who advises fighters for Banner Promotions and German Titov Box Promotions revealed to BoxingScene.com that his fighter Dmitry Pirog may take a fight in his native Russia before resuming his career in the U.S. Pirog last fought in July when he knocked out the then undefeated American prospect Danny Jacobs with a hightlight reel punch.
Kornilov told Boxingscene that they were unsuccessful in their attempt to match Pirog with WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez.
Boxingscene's Rick Reeno recently reported that HBO is dead set on Martinez facing WBC junior middleweight champion Serhiy Dzinzurik on March 12th. Pirog may need a higher profile fight before a match up with Martinez is possible.
