Cotto Beats Kamegai

The world champion in four different weight classes Miguel Cotto (41-5, 33 KO) successfully returned to the ring after a two-year layoff, winning a unanimous decision over Yoshihiro Kamegai (27-4-2, 24 KOs) in the main event of the evening at the StabHab Center arena in Carson, California. The judges’ scores: 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110. With the victory Cotto received a vacant WBO junior middleweight belt.

The fight took place in an active battle from beginning to end. Despite a lot of missed heavy blows, Kamega went ahead and forced Cotto to do his best.

According to CompuBox statistics, for 12 rounds Cotto was able to deliver 339 blows from 839 thrown (40.4%), while Kameghi - 156 blows out of 693 thrown (22.5%).
