Former UFC interim lightweight belt holder Justin Gaethje explained why division champion Islam Makhachev wants a fight against Dustin Porier in June.
"Islam owes it to himself to face at least someone. He has a hard time believing that Tsarukian, Oliveira, Holloway or myself would be willing to fight June. I don't understand why Makhachev insists on June. We could fight in July or August. But he has one thought in his head: "What if?" If you don't have an opponent, you don't have a fight.
If I was Islam, I'd pick the fight against Porier too. Because I would win, make the same money, make a title defense. So there's nothing wrong with that," the American said in an interview with Shak MMA.
