Della Maddalena admitted to coming out of the Burns fight with staph.

UFC Australian welterweight Jack Della Maddalena has spoken about the health issues he faced ahead of his bout with Brazilian Gilbert Burns.

"I got staph right before I left. I was on antibiotics. I was feeling better before the fight, so I thought, 'The antibiotics are obviously working.' It looked like a pimple on my knee...'. I hardly trained at all. Just rested the first four days in Miami," - quotes the words of the fighter Championship Rounds.

Recall that Della Maddalena broke his arm in the fight with Burns, but managed to continue the meeting and won by knockout in the third round. The fight took place on March 9 at UFC 299 in Miami, USA.
