Vera: "I'll come back and one day I'll be a champion."

Top UFC lightweight division fighter Marlon Vera made a statement after losing to champion Sean O'Malley in the main event of UFC 299 in Miami.

Recall, the Ecuadorian lost to the American by unanimous decision of the judges.

"Thank you to the people who came to support me. Thank you to the Ecuadorians. This is not the end for me. I will continue to move on and get better. I'll come back and one day be champion.

O'Malley? I always knew he was a great fighter. We could do the three-strikes, but I knew he was a good puncher. I tried to fight him, try to catch him. At the end of the fight, I gave him a good body shot, but I didn't have enough time. I give him credit for that.

Thanks to my trainer, who brought me to the title fight. I'm grateful to my family: my kids, my mom, my dad. I won't disappoint you again. I will train harder and I will be back," Vera said after the fight.
