Serrano vs Meinke Main Event Canceled Due To Eye Injury

Amanda Serrano's scheduled featherweight championship defense against Nina Meinke was cancelled due to an eye injury. The event was set for Saturday in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Unfortunately, Serrano sustained a serious eye injury, specifically her cornea was exposed. This led to her failing essential eye tests and being declared medically unfit to fight by Most Valuable Promotions.

The news came yesterday, just before the main event.

Serrano expressed devastation at not being able to perform. She apologized deeply to fans, saying, "I am so sorry. I came to fight, I came to put on a show for you guys. I give you guys everything, I put everything on the line for you guys. I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart."

Jake Paul of Most Valuable Promotions called for understanding from fans and elaborated on Serrano's efforts and emotional turmoil over the cancellation.

Paul stated, "Listen, I know there’s people booing, but Amanda came to fight. She put in a hard camp and the doctors wouldn’t let her move forward because of her eye. Her cornea was exposed, and she was failing eye tests, and she did everything she could to make it happen. We’re standing by Amanda’s side, and she’s been emotional and she wanted more than anything to represent her island, and this night meant the world to her."

After Paul’s first-round knockout win over Ryan Bourland, the announcement of the bout's cancellation led to boos from the crowd.

As of now, there is no immediate word on how Serrano incurred her eye injury. The total comments reacting to this news tally up to 26 reflecting varied sentiments from boxing fans worldwide.
