Okolie: “Soon I will become a two-time world champion”

Lawrence Okoli (19-1, 14 KOs) announced on social networks that he had begun preparations for his return to the ring. The former world cruiserweight champion said he will soon fight for the world title again. “Soon I will become a two-time world champion,” said the Briton.

A few weeks ago, the former cruiseweight champion announced his move to the bridger category. For the Englishman, the upcoming fight could be just a stop before a possible debut in the heavyweight division.

Okolie has not boxed since his points loss to Chris Billam-Smith last year. Okolie was effective in the early rounds of the fight with Billam-Smith, but appeared to break down mentally after the first knockdown of his career in the fourth round. Subsequently, Okolie retreated even deeper into his shell, unable to prevent the title from leaving his hands. He lost two points for clinching and suffered two more knockdowns.
