Nakatani knocked out Santiago and became the champion in the third weight category

Junto Nakatani (27-0, 20 KOs) knocked out in the sixth round Alexandro Santiago (28-4-5, 14 KOs) in the main event of the boxing evening in Tokyo. Thus, the Japanese took the WBC world bantamweight title from the Mexican.

In the sixth round, Santiago, who tried to attack from the first bell, was on the floor twice. First after a straight left, and then after a combination of blows from both hands. After the second knockdown the fight was stopped. As a result, Nakatani won the championship title in his third weight category.

On the same evening, Takuma Inoue (19-1, 5 KOs) knocked out Jerwin Ancajas (34-4-2, 23 KOs) in the ninth round, defending the WBA bantamweight belt, and Kosei Tanaka (20-1, 11 KOs) defeated Christian Bacasegua (22-5-2, 9 KOs) by unanimous decision to win the WBO super flyweight title. At the end of twelve rounds, the judges scored it 119-108, 117-110 and 116-111. Thus, the Japanese became the world champion in his fourth weight category.
