Undefeated Kazakh UFC welterweight fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov spoke about his change of citizenship in 2011.
“I was born in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan. The climate there is very hot: 45–55 degrees in summer. It is very difficult to be on the street. In 2011, he finally moved to Kazakhstan, received a passport without any problems due to his nationality—Kazakh—and immediately began participating in the country’s championships,” Shavkat said in the podcast “Shaekin’s Friend.”
Let us remember that 29-year-old Rakhmonov spent his last fight on December 16 at the UFC 296 tournament in Las Vegas, when he forced American veteran Stephen Thompson to surrender. Currently, the Kazakhstani occupies third place in the UFC welterweight division rankings.
