Rodriguez: "If it was up to me, I would never fight Ortega"

Former interim UFC featherweight champion, Mexican Yair Rodriguez stated that if he had a choice, he would never agree to a fight with the American Brian Ortega, which also has Mexican blood.

“If it were up to me, I would never fight him because we are both Mexicans. I didn't ask for a fight with him, but it was arranged because of what we were able to achieve. And then, after that first fight, I thought, “Okay, let’s move on.” But in this sport you never know what will happen, and here we are again. It’s weird, but I just need to do my job,” Rodriguez was quoted as saying by MMA Junkie.

Let us remember that in July 2022, Rodriguez defeated Ortega by technical knockout in the first round (shoulder injury). The fighters will have a rematch on February 24 at the UFC Fight Night 237 tournament in Mexico City.
