The head of the WBC assessed the likelihood of Fury being stripped of his title for withdrawing from the fight against Usik

The head of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, made it clear that the British Tyson Fury will not be deprived of his championship belt even in the event of another breakdown in the fight with the Ukrainian Alexander Usik. 

“Stripping Fury of his championship title? We have never received any requests regarding this. Absolutely not. It's just the tension of the moment and frustration. You have to understand that there is a lot at stake in this fight. Therefore, if you find out the news about the postponement of the fight, then your day becomes very, very bad,” Suleiman said in an interview with the YouTube channel Seconds Out.

Let us remind you that the fight between Usik and Fury was planned for February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but was postponed due to the cut the Briton received during the training camp. Now the boxers are scheduled to meet on May 18 there.
