Lopez Sr. commented on his son’s victory over Ortiz

Teofimo Lopez Sr., father and coach of the WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez, shared his impressions of his son’s victory over Jamayne Ortiz.

“I think 117-111 is a normal score, but Teofimo won almost every round for me. This is madness. If you want to box, then fine, I can understand that. But you have to give free rein to your arms when you box. You have to get close and move back like Floyd Mayweather did. He boxed, but he also scored points.

This guy literally went out for a run. He did not give free rein to his hands, because he knew that if he tried to throw a punch while he was running, he would run into a counterattack. We were waiting for this, but it never happened. He never attempted to attack.
