Frank Warren stated that the eyebrow injury that Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) received during sparring and required 15 stitches. The injury suffered by the "Gypsy King" led to the cancellation of the fight with Alexander Usik (21-0, 14 KOs) for four heavyweight belts, scheduled for February 17. Tyson Fury himself has not yet published any photos or videos of his cut on social networks.
Usyk wished Fury a speedy recovery and said that he was “ready to fight for the title of champion at any time and in any place.” The Ukrainian is in talks about a fight with Croatian Filip Hrgovic as Fury's replacement in February. Hrgovic is the IBF mandatory challenger for Usyk's belt and there were fears he could be stripped of the title if Fury was sidelined for a few months.
But just 24 hours later, the Saudi organizers and Fury's team quickly set a new date for the fight: May 18.
