The fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion between Alexander Usik And Tyson Fury postponed to May 18, Saudi Arabian government spokesman Turki Alalshih said on The MMA Hour show. The venue remains the same - the Royal Arena in Riyadh.
The fight, due to take place on February 17, was postponed after the Briton suffered a deep cut above his right eye during sparring. The Gypsy King reportedly required 15 stitches.
Usyk's manager Egis Klimas reacted extremely strongly when Fury said he would not be able to compete on February 17 due to injury. Klimas called Tyson a “damn coward” and expressed confidence that he deliberately pulled out of the fight. However, the next day the parties agreed that the battle should take place after the British had fully recovered.
