Johnny Fisher Beats a Ukrainian Dmytro Bezus In First Round On Benn-Dobson Undercard

Johnny Fisher, the unbeaten British heavyweight boxer, secured another victory in his rising career. Fighting on the undercard of Conor Benn vs. Peter Dobson at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Fisher stopped Ukrainian boxer Dmytro Bezus in the first round. The bout ended at 2:51.

Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 243 pounds, Johnny Fisher now boasts a record of 11-0 with an impressive 10 knockouts. Since turning professional in February 2021 with only 10 amateur bouts under his belt, he has continually improved over recent fights. Observers note Fisher seems prepared for tougher competition moving forward.

Bezus, with a now 10-2 record including 5 knockouts and based out of Montreal, faced difficulties early on in the fight. He had previously suffered a second-round defeat to David Adeleye last year at York Hall in London.

The pivotal moment came late in the first round when Fisher landed a powerful right uppercut and followed up with a solid right hand to Bezus. This sequence was the beginning of the end for Bezus and foreshadowed the swift conclusion that would soon follow.

Earlier indications of Fisher's dominance surfaced less than a minute into the round when he hit Bezus with a right-left combo that sent him reeling into the ropes. Referee Robert Hoyle made the decisive call to stop the fight at its climax, confirming Fisher's victory by stoppage.

Today’s match between Fisher and Bezus adds another chapter to Johnny Fisher's promising career trajectory within boxing's heavyweight division.
