Whittaker: “I’m not worried about the possible breakdown of the fight with Costa”

Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker made it clear that he is not at all afraid of the possibility that his closest rival Paulo Costa at the last moment he will refuse the fight.

The meeting between the Australian and the Brazilian is scheduled for February 17 as part of the UFC 298 tournament in Anaheim.

“I can’t say I’m worried about this. To be honest, I doubt that I will be left without an opponent regardless of Costa’s decision. As in other cases, I will fight with someone else. The UFC will give me another opponent.

Either way, it's a great fight for both of us. We're both high-level middleweights and we're trying to make money. For both of us, this fight is the way back to the top of the food chain. Therefore, I see no reason why he could refuse,” MMA Mania quotes Whittaker as saying.
