Gaethje: “I was sure that I would get a fight with Makhachev”

Former interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje shared his thoughts on why the promotion did not schedule him a fight with the current full title holder Islam Makhachev.

“In the UFC you never know what’s going to happen next. I was confident that I would get a title chance - after the announcement of the fight between Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira, it became clear to me that Islam simply had no one to fight.

Makhachev himself wrote on social networks that he wanted to meet with me. So I have no idea what's going on. Maybe he's injured. Apparently, he will not return until June or July,” MMA News quotes Gaethje as saying.

Let us remind you that on April 13 at the UFC 300 tournament, Gaethje will share the octagon with Max Holloway.
