Former interim UFC lightweight champion, current holder of the symbolic BMF ("Badest Bastard") belt Justin Gaethje and ex-king of the featherweight division Max Holloway will meet at the UFC 300 tournament, scheduled for April 13 in Las Vegas. Promotion CEO Dana White announced this on social media X.

Gaethje will return to the Octagon after a high-profile knockout win over Dustin Poirier last August, which earned him the vacant BMF title. The 35-year-old American was expected to face champion Islam Makhachev, who is due to return to the Octagon in the summer. However, he will instead face Holloway, whose path to the featherweight title is currently closed due to three losses to champion Alexander Volkanovski.

In his last fight, Holloway, 32, knocked out Chen Sung Jong, extending his current winning streak to two after his third loss to Volkanovski. The fight took place in August.

It’s worth adding that White announced another intriguing lightweight fight at UFC 300: division veteran Jim Miller will face off against compatriot Bobby Green.
