Jai Opetaya (24-0, 19 KOs) will spend the next few weeks with Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs). The Australian, already stripped of his championship belt, is still considered the top cruiserweight (90.7kg) and is a strong southpaw with excellent feet. Therefore, Opetaya is ideal for Fury to spar before the fight with Alexander Usik (21-0, 14 KOs).
The fight for all four heavyweight belts between the Englishman and the Ukrainian will take place on February 17 in Saudi Arabia. Opetaja himself will also perform as part of this evening. The Australian doesn't know his opponent yet, but you can expect him to be in good shape because he will spend some time sparring with Fury. Opetaia flies to Britain this weekend, and if nothing changes, both will train with each other until the end of the training camp. Thus, the “lineal champions” in the heavyweight and heavyweight divisions will share not only the fight card, but also the training camp.
Opetaya recently signed a three-fight contract with the Saudis. He spent his first of these on December 23 in Saudi Arabia, knocking out Ellis Zorro (17-0) in the first round. Fury and Usyk, in turn, agreed to meet twice. The loser will be able to activate the rematch clause.
