Journalist Kevin Iole reported that the unified world light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev before the fight with Callum Smith passed doping tests, the results of which were “atypical.” The fight between the Canadian and the British should take place on the night of January 14 in Quebec.
“Beterbiev was found to have ‘atypical results’ of elevated levels of growth hormone and the testosterone metabolite 5D-androstanediol during a VADA doping test on December 6 before his fight against Callum Smith. However, both substances occur naturally in the body, and the “atypical result” is not a disorder,” Iole wrote in X.
It is noted that all subsequent VADA tests were negative, so the fight will take place as planned.
