Makhachev pulled out of the fight in February

Manager of the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhacheva Ali-Abdel Aziz said that the promotion's management offered his client a title defense in February.

The Dagestani fighter’s side refused, since a few weeks ago he fought with Alexander Volkanovski; on October 21, at the UFC 294 tournament, he won by knockout in the first round.

“This was supposed to be the main event. They talked about February, but nothing came of it. It was too close to his last fight,” the functionary said in an interview with ESPN MMA.
