Oliveira and Tsarukyan will hold a contender's fight at UFC 300

UFC CEO Dana White announced on Sunday that the promotion's former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira will meet with Arman Tsarukyan April 13 at the UFC 300 tournament in Las Vegas.

The functionary added that the winner will become the No. 1 contender for the title of current champion Islam Makhachev, whom White expects to return to the Octagon in the summer.

Oliveira was scheduled to rematch Makhachev last October at UFC 294, but pulled out of the fight ten days before the tournament due to a cut. The Brazilian first fought with the Russian for the vacant belt in the fall of 2022, capitulating after a choke in the second round.

In his last fight, Oliveira knocked out Beneil Dariush in the first round. This happened in June at UFC 289.

As for Tsarukyan, he is on a streak of three victories in a row. The Armenian, like his closest rival, won his last victory over Darishui in the starting five minutes - the fight took place in early December.

Let us remind you that the main event of the UFC 300 tournament has not yet been scheduled.
