Virgil Ortiz Jr. (19-0, 19 KOs) returns to the ring with high hopes after numerous health problems and has big plans for this year. In his debut fight at junior middleweight, he will face Fredrick Lawson (30-3, 22 KOs), who should be just a stepping stone towards much bigger goals.

“It would probably be nice to knock out more opponents, but I’m not worried about maintaining a perfect record and early victories. The most important thing for me is to compete with the best. Nothing personal, but after this fight I want to fight either Jermell Charlo or Tim Tszyu. I want their belts and I want to prove that I am the best. I like competition, so I want to cross gloves with the best,” Ortiz Jr. said.
