Callum Smith spoke about his motivation before the fight with Beterbiev

British boxer Callum Smith stated that the opportunity to conquer the second weight category serves as a huge motivation for him before the fight with the Canadian Artur Beterbiev, unified world champion in the WBC, IBF and WBO light heavyweight divisions.

“I want to become a two-weight champion, so any work I have to do to get there doesn’t matter. I have two small children at home. Sometimes you come to the gym tired, but you have to train. Sometimes it is monotonous and difficult. There are hard days.

You must know why you are doing this. The thought of becoming a two-weight world champion gets me out of bed and into the gym. If I didn’t believe that I was good enough for this, I would be sitting at home in my slippers and enjoying life,” Boxing Scene quotes Smith.

The fight between Beterbiev and Smith will take place on January 13 in Quebec, Canada.
