Makhachev's coach: “Parting with Fergus will benefit the UFC”

Head coach of the AKA gym Javier Mendez spoke about the career prospects of the former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson.

“If the UFC part ways with him at this stage, it will be to their benefit. This didn't happen before because he was an important asset and was really good at promoting fights. Tony is still good at it. And since there are other promotions, the same fist fights, Tony will still have high fees if he so desires. After all, fans are willing to pay for his fights.

I think Tony needs to really look at himself now. A series of seven defeats, and he still rushes about. Age is catching up with him,” MMA Fighting quotes Mendes as saying.

Let us remember that last weekend at the UFC 296 tournament, Ferguson lost by unanimous decision to Paddy Pimblett.
