Former contender for the interim featherweight belt Josh Emmett explained why he didn't throw more punches at Bryce Mitchell after his one-punch knockout at UFC 296 last weekend.
“I've had this happen before. I knew Bryce had passed out—I realized it when he was falling down. I was happy about the victory, but I wasn’t going to finish it off. This was not necessary. I know that many fighters say that it is necessary to strike before the referee intervenes. But I realized that I hit it very powerfully, so there was no need to finish it off,” Emmett is quoted as saying by MMA Junkie.
