Derevyanchenko: “The goal is to win the belt”

Repeated contender for the middleweight title, Ukrainian Sergey Derevyanchenko voiced his main goal in his career, and also told how much longer he plans to delight boxing fans with his performances.

—You are 38 years old. For an average weight, this is already quite a respectable age. How long do you plan to box?

— I think about two more years. I’ll box at 38 and 39, and then we’ll see.

— Do your eyes still sparkle to wake up every morning and go to the gym for training?

- Sometimes you don’t want to. I will say that when I was 28 years old, I would sometimes wake up and not want to go to workout.

— What motivates you to do this now?

— Firstly, this is my job, I make money from this. Secondly, I have a goal - to win the belt. And a title equals money. Therefore everything is interconnected.

Derevyanchenko's return is scheduled for January 6th as part of a boxing evening in Las Vegas. It was previously reported that his opponent would be D’Mitrius Ballard, but the American later abandoned the fight.
