Momentum is building toward a November fight between former heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, though both men are still expected to take interim bouts first. Joshua is likely to return in July, while Fury has said he plans to fight three times in 2026.

Makhmudov, who shared 12 rounds with Fury, believes that experience sharpened Fury for a possible meeting with Joshua.

“I gave Fury very serious resistance and really tested him. But because of those 12 rounds, he is now ready for Joshua. He would be my favorite in that fight. I don’t know whether he wins by knockout or on points, but I have no doubt Fury beats Joshua. And fairly easily,” Makhmudov said.
